Foracort Rotacaps-200 Mcg +6 Mcg(long-acting beta-agonist bronchodilator) is prescribed for
the chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder-COPD and asthma treatment. It can also be used to
prevent breathing concerns caused by the exercise.
Composition:
The two main ingredients of Foracort Rotacaps which work in the management of asthma or
COPD are- Formoterol (6mcg) + Budesonide (200mcg).
How does it work:
Formoterol (long-acting bronchodilator ) helps in widening the airways by relaxing the muscles
in the airways. Budesonide (steroid )inhibits the release of the natural substance which causes
swelling in the airways. Their synergistic action makes breathing easier.
How to use this?
It contains two medicines in one inhaler. Foracort 200 Rotacaps must not be swallowed and the
label must be read before using it. After placing the capsule at the base of rotahaler, you are
required to twist the mouthpiece completely until you hear a click sound. Now breathe in the
deeply through the mouthpiece and hold your breath for 10 seconds. Repeat the process if some
powder still left out in the rotahaler.
Side Effects:
Some common side-effects of Foracort 200 Rotacaps are- cough, respiratory tract infection, sore
throat, headache, musculoskeletal, trouble in sleeping, nervousness, upset stomach, runny or
stuffy nose, dizziness, tiredness tremor, increased heart rate, fungal infection in the mouth,
vomiting, nausea etc.
Precautions and Warning:
Patients must remember that this medication does not relieve sudden symptoms and they must
always use a rescue inhaler to treat sudden symptoms. You must inform your doctor immediately
if your breathing condition worsen. Do not use it if you are/have:-
ï‚· Allergic to milk proteins or any ingredients of Foracort 200 Rotacaps
ï‚· A medical history of diabetes, thyroid problems, low potassium levels, heart problems,
high blood pressure, seizures etc.
ï‚· Pregnant or planning to get pregnant or a breastfeeding woman.
