Arthrotec is a combination medicine consisting of two drugs as its active
ingredients, firstly diclofenac (50mg/200mcg) which is a non-steroidal anti-
inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic properties that helps in reducing
pain and inflammation and secondly misoprostol (200 mcg) -“ a gastrointestinal
mucosal protective prostaglandin E 1 analog which helps in protecting the
stomach from the adverse effects of diclofenac. This medicine is especially
used in the treatment of arthritis in patients with high chances of getting
stomach ulcers and related problems.
Arthrotec is used to cure and prevent the symptoms of osteoarthritis and
rheumatoid arthritis in patients who are at risk of having a NSAID-triggered
ulcer or other ulcers.
HOW TO USE
Take it in dose and duration only as per the guidelines provided by your doctor.
Read the label carefully prior to use. Do not crush or chew it. Avoid lying down
for a while after consuming this medicine. Take it with or without food as
directed by your physician. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed
one. Drink plenty of water and fluids.
Take Arthrotec under medical supervision and inform your doctor in detail
about your medical history, existing diseases and medication before using it.
Preganant women and women who are planning to conceive must not take
this medicine as misoprostol, one of the active ingredients of this medicine can
lead to abortion, premature birth or birth defects. Lactating mothers should
ask their doctor before using it. Patients with cardiovascular diseases,
hypersensitivity to such drugs, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery,
gastrointestinal bleeding, kidney or liver problems should use it only after
consulting their physician. Avoid alcohol consumption along with it as it may
increase the drowsiness in patients.
High blood pressure
Seek medical assistance immediately if any of the above
mentioned or other unusual symptoms occur after using Arthrotec.
